Things to Do in Bali (2026): 12 Places With Prices and Warnings

Twelve places across the island that independent guides keep naming, with what they cost, when they open and what to watch for.

Every place here is named by at least two of the guides we could read, mainly Honeycombers and Time Out. Be careful with entry prices. Almost none comes from an official site, and guides often don't agree. Where they do, the Entry row says so and shows the range, so treat any figure as a guide's number to check at the gate.

Two things apply everywhere. Bali charges every international visitor an IDR 150,000 tourist levy, paid once per visit before leaving Indonesia, according to the provincial government's Love Bali site. And Nyepi, the day of silence, closes the island for a day: in 2025 the airport shut for 24 hours from 6am on 29 March. Check the date before you plan around it, because the dates we found for 2027 don't agree. Nobody on this team has been to any of these places.

Common questions

IDR 150,000 per international visitor, paid once per visit before you leave Indonesia, according to the provincial government's Love Bali site. Some visa holders and transport crew are exempt, and online payment before arrival is encouraged.

What closes on Nyepi?

Everything. It's a day of silence across the island. In 2025 the airport closed for 24 hours from 6am on 29 March. Check the date for your trip, since the sources we found don't agree on 2027.

Can you swim at Kelingking Beach?

No. Swimming has been banned since February 2023, and The Bali Sun reports a drowning there in October 2025 after someone entered the water despite the warnings.

What is the best time of day for Bali temples and waterfalls?

Early. Guides say before 10am for Tirta Empul, 6:00 to 8:30am for Tegallalang, before midday for Sekumpul, and 12:00 to 15:00 for Tanah Lot if you want to avoid the sunset crowds.
